LI-MA Presents: New Art on Screen Meets The Grey Space in the Middle
LI-MA’s nationwide tour begins on in The Hague. Join us for an evening of screenings exploring our relationship with Earth.
LI-MA kicks off its nationwide tour on 27 September at The Grey Space in the Middle (The Hague). Featuring works by Bea de Visser, Anika Schwarzlose & Brian D. McKenna, Thomas Mohr, Mark IJzerman & Sébastien Robert, and Seoungho Cho, the evening explores the complex relationship between humans and ‘our’ planet Earth.
Since 2013, LI-MA has been presenting new works from its collection twice a year at LAB111, its home base. These events offer artists a valuable platform to showcase their work to a broad audience in an accessible setting and engage in meaningful discussions during the Q&A sessions that accompany each presentation.
After little more than a decade, LI-MA will take these works on a nationwide tour. Starting in autumn 2024, LI-MA Presents: New Art on Screen and LI-MA Presents: New Art on Screen - Bring Your Own File will foster a symbiosis between artists and audiences and cultivate accessible, inclusive, and sustainable local communities around media art, of the present and of the future. And there’s no better place to set this journey in motion than The Grey Space in the Middle!
LI-MA Joins Forces with The Grey Space in the Middle
As the vibrant nexus of creativity of The Hague, The Grey Space is interested in how technology can be used in an artistic process, how ‘digital thinking’ is made tangible in artistic projects and research, and implications of our increasingly blurred boundaries between digital and physical worlds on our humanity.
In a joint effort, LI-MA and The Grey Space will present new works by both established and emerging artists who raise questions about the relationship we as humans have with ‘our’ planet Earth. Each of the selected five works offers a unique perspective, mapping out one specific part of a changing planet. Through these works, we will explore non-human points of view, redefine the division between life and non-life, see the landscape as an entity, experience man's dualistic relationship with nature, and learn that birds will always be there.
The evening will take place during HOOGTIJ#78, when approximately 25 art locations in the city centre of The Hague open their doors to experimental art, installations, and performances at the artists’ initiatives.
