LI-MA's Nationwide Media Art Tour Returns in 2025
Media Art and Emerging Talent Take Centre Stage Across the Netherlands
LI-MA kicks off the new year with the continuation of its nationwide initiative that brings cutting-edge media art to diverse audiences across the Netherlands: LI-MA Presents: New Art on Screen and LI-MA Presents: New Art on Screen – Bring Your Own File. Building on the success of past editions, LI-MA continues to celebrate innovative works and platform new talent, while fostering collaboration between artists, cultural organisations, and communities.
Bringing New Media Art to New Audiences Across the Netherlands
After the success of previous editions in The Hague and Amsterdam, LI-MA continues its mission to expand the reach and visibility of media art outside LI-MA’s homebase across the country. From January to March 2025, LI-MA Presents: New Art on Screen will travel to several locations, offering curated screenings, artist Q&A sessions, and engaging workshops. The programme highlights emerging artists and sparks important conversations on topics such as media and technology criticism, identity, and sustainability. The first stop will be Media Art Friesland in Leeuwarden from 25 January till 9 February, with upcoming dates including Arnhem, Tilburg, and Amsterdam.

Participating Artists LI-MA Presents: New Art on Screen at Media Art Friesland
LI-MA is excited to reveal the complete programme for LI-MA Presents: New Art on Screen at Media Art Friesland. The evening will showcase a diverse range of works by emerging and established artists, exploring themes of identity, technology, memory, and human connection in the digital age.
The programme includes:

Janilda Bartolomeu – when_scrolling_becomes_scrying (NL, 2023, 12min): A poignant exploration of grief and digital identity through found footage and personal archives.

Samira Elagoz & Z Walsh – You can’t get what you want but you can get me (NL/FI, 2024, 13min): A tender celebration of transmasculine love told through a photo slideshow.

Daniel Jacoby – 315 (NL/PE, 2023, 14min): A personal reflection on Peruvian history, masculinity, and memory.

Daisy Evers – I woke up, again. In this blue world with a flowerless sea (NL, 2023, 10min): A speculative dystopian narrative on consciousness and digital existence.

Luna Maurer & Roel Wouters – Emoji is all we have, part 1 (NL, 2023, 14min): A critique of digital communication’s emotional simplicity in a post-pandemic world.
Scouting New Talent
Alongside this, LI-MA Presents: New Art on Screen – Bring Your Own File offers an exciting opportunity for young and emerging media artists to present their works. A call for submissions is currently open, inviting experimental video art that embraces software-based creativity. This open platform follows the inclusive ethos of Bring Your Own Beamer (BYOB) to encourage innovative artistic expressions and foster experimentation.
The first LI-MA Presents: New Art on Screen — Bring Your Own File showcase of 2025 will take place from 25 January until 9 February, alongside the LUNA Young Masters exhibition at Media Art Friesland. The following emerging artists will present their work:

Guo Tongxin — My Body Is A Haunted Space /It (2024, 7min): A hauntological exploration of skin disease as both presence and echo

Jon Metz — Concernant les différentes manières pour s'élever (2024, 12min): Two videos and a sculpture, presented alongside the artist’s field research, capturing natural sounds and materials

Chao (Chun) Huang and Beth (Ka Yi) Wong — Are you Home? (2024, 7min): Themes of loss, belonging, and rebuilding explored through the practices of nomadic East Asian farmers

Agata Sznurkowska — No Predators Were Present (2023, 13min): A voiceover for a video where CGI mice inhabit an analogue environment, reflecting on topics of identity, expectations of the future or agency in social change
