LI-MA at Media Arts Festival Arnhem 2024
Several LI-MA artists and team members are curating and showing work at MAFA 2024.
The Media Arts Festival Arnhem (MAFA) takes place for the third time this March, featuring an exhibition at Museum Arnhem and a three-day programme of lectures, performances and screenings at Focus Filmtheater. As part of this latter programme, many LI-MA artists and team members are curating and showing work. Find a selection of these LI-MA-related activities and works below.

Sunday 24 March 11:00 Traces
This 75-minute screening programme curated by LI-MA artist Donna Verheijden featured the following works from the LI-MA collection:

Talks, Workshops & Performances
Friday 22 March 20:00 – Performance Night
During the opening night of the festival, artists have celebrated the potential of festival theme ‘Less’ through performances and music. This included an embodied audiovisual performance by Sophia Bulgakova and LI-MA artist Mark IJzerman, titled ALL EYES ON.
Sunday 24 March 13:30 – Workshop Active Listening — Sekai Makoni
This workshop curated by LI-MA artist belit sağ was designed and led by Sekai Makoni – an artist, facilitator and community researcher based in Rotterdam. It encouraged participants to think more deeply about the ways we listen, both individually and collectively.
Sunday 24 March 16:00 – Workshop Sound as Resource — Deniz Buga
This workshop curated by LI-MA artist belit sağ and led by artist Deniz Buga explored the work of several artists who use different sound elements (as well as silence) to imagine work and transform sound into a tangible experience.
Sunday 24 March 16:15 – Less blabla more action: a permacomputing take on big tech and art – Aymeric Mansoux
This talk from artist, researcher and frequent LI-MA collaborator Aymeric Mansoux was curated and introduced by LI-MA curator Sanneke Huisman.
