Cultural Matter is a public exhibition and discussion programme that offers a platform for the international discussion on the position and intricacies of digital art.

What is sustainable in relation to these so-called unstable media? In the scope of the collaborative research project ‘Future Proof Media Art’ with Dutch media artist Geert Mul, LIMA researches software-based and interactive media artworks from the oeuvre of Mul.

UNFOLD: Mediation by reinterpretation

UNFOLD is a research project and a collaborative, international research network that together will be examining re-interpretation as emerging practice for the preservation of media artworks.

Sustainability Lab

Are you interested in media art from an artistic, technical or practical perspective? Our Sustainability lab is case studies based and bridges the gap between theory and practice. Propose a subject to investigate and work with an interdisciplinary team on the issues of sustainability and accessibility.

Documentation

Documentation is a vital part of the preservation of media artworks. Occasionally, documentation is the only remaining element of these works. LIMA can provide the appropriate documentation for your digital, conceptual and/or performance artworks, so that they can be re-experienced in the future.

Storage

Does your institution house a collection of digital or analogue works of media art? LIMA can preserve and sustain these works. Our conservation specialists store your born-digital material and ensure it can be exhibited now and in the future.
