Every year on the first Thursday of November it is World Digital Preservation Day. All over the world archives, museums, libraries and other heritage organisations dedicate the day to the permanent accessibility of digital collections.

This year the Digital Heritage Network (Netwerk Digitaal Erfgoed) marks this day with a groundbreaking online symposium on Thursday, 4 November, live streamed from LIMA, Amsterdam. We are very honoured that LIMA has been asked to open this symposium. In addition to opening the symposium, LIMA director Gaby Wijers will reflect with artist Jan-Robert Leegte on the dilemma’s faced within the realm of preserving media art. The chosen theme of the symposium this year: Breaking Down Barriers. Themes such as preservation headaches and preservation watch will stimulate this interactive day-long symposium that aims to look across borders!
