PACKED & LIMA: Workshop capturing content from old carriers (FULLY BOOKED)

*THE WORKSHOP IS FULLY BOOKED*
In collaboration with PACKED vzw and the Algemeen-Nederlands Verbond LIMA organizes a hands-on workshop where you learn to retrieve data from computer diskettes and other obsolete carriers. The workshop will take place in Brussels, and and includes both a theoretical and a practical part. In the theoretical part you will learn what you have to take into account when preserving (data on) obsolete carriers; in the practical part we start with reading devices and software. At the end of the workshop you will be able to recognize the different carrier formats, make identical digital copies of the carrier and analyze and use the copy.
We provide test materials ourselves, but the participants are encouraged to bring their own material. For the time being, the transfer of data to diskettes (3.5 and 5.25 inch), Iomega zip disks and optical disks (eg CD-R, CD-ROM or DVD) is on the program. Are there any other outdated carriers whose data you want to collect? Send an e-mail to nastasia@packed.be, and we will see if we can include it in the program.
The workshop is in line with the Resurrection Lab project, which iMAL and PACKED vzw currently realize with the support of Innoviris, the Brussels Institute for Research and Innovation.
